A cniiors and interesting return has just been compiled by direction of the Government, showing the respective nationalities of the nominated immigrants sent for during the past six months, and other instructive particulars. It appears that, in the laat half- \ ear 3552 nominations were received. Of these, COS were of relations in the nearest degree, that is to say, husband?, wives, parents, children, &c. ; UO'JI were in the next degree of relationship, such as brothers, sisters, and cousins (but not "aunts") ; the IS'2 more were nominations of friends, and 45 were people sent for to supply some particular new trade about to be started, for which no skilled labour could be procured in the colony. Next, as to nationalities : Of the total 3532 no fewer than 1519 were Irish, but of these 904 were single women, chiefly coining out as domestic servants. There were 1445 English, including 375 I single women, SO3 Scotch, including 224 single women, and 05 "foreign, :, ].'{ being spinsters. The total deposits received on account of these nominations in six months amounted to £10,475. All these nominations I have been duly forwarded to the Agent- ; General, and the people will be sent out as I soon as possible.
