NEW YORK TO PARIS IN 130 HOURS.
'• Imiom New York to Paris by rail in five days and a-half, the laml journey only to_ be brnken once by a two hours' sea-passage"— such is the latest proposition submitted to the consideration of capitalists by American engineering enterprise. The plans for this gigantic undertaking have been drawn out by a Mr. Gregory, well-known in Transatlantic railway circles, whose readiness to carry them out, so soon as tin; necessary fund's shall be placed at his disposal, may be taken for granted. His lino of route, starting from the commercial capital of the States, pusses through Canada. New Georgia, and Alaska to Cape Prince of Wales, whence the passengers are to be conveyed by steamer to Kast Cape, on the opposite Asiatic coast of Berhing's Straits, and distant about 40 miles from ihe north-western extremity of the American continent. From Kast Cipe the iron road to be constructed will cross Russian territory in Northern Asia until it joins the Siberian railway system, already in direct connection through .Moscow and St. Petersburg, with all the European capitals. Mr. Gregory calculates that the distance between New York and Paris, the American Paradise, can be traversed by this route in K!0 hours, something less than the time at present consumed in performing the overland journey from New York to San I'ranciseo, and al a cost of about C."O to each passenger.
