Cuckoo I Cuckoo !!—These sounds, so familiar and so redolent of poetic fictions and memories to those who claim the " Old Land" as their home, are unknown to tho majority of the inhabitants of these sunny Islands. But asnear an approach as art can make to nature-may be heard in the window of Mr. J. M. McLachlan. tho well-known Queen-street draper. There may be seen a beautifully carved. clock, representing a cathedral, in the face of which; as the hands approach the hour, a window opensianda miniature cackoo trillß forth its mellifluous notes, to the wonderment and delight of the hundreds who throng that busy quarter. Such an opportunity to procure at cost frice an article at once useful and aesthetic should not bo lost sight of by those who contemplate housekeeping. The works are brass, and of superior finish, and it is a splendid timekeeper.
