TEACHERS MEETING.
A meeting of teachers, called by circular, was held on Saturday afternoon at the Library, Wellesley-street School, —Mr. H. Worthington in the chair.
The following report and statement of accounts were presented by the chairman, and,' on the motion of Messrs. Woodham and Leonasd, were accepted and passed by the meeting.
Report Teachers' MKEmra, 30th Jai.r, 1831. 1 am glad to bo able to report that the library cortinueetobe folly appreciated, especially by country teackers, to whom we are able, by tho courtesy of the Board of Education, to send books free of postage. This library now consists or upwards *f 1100 volumes, mauy of which have been added during the put y ear. The committee hare to acknowledge the rum at £23, a donation from tho Board of Education, which fr" been entirely expended is the purchase »f books : and of a parcel of books from the agent of ifessra- Nelson and Boob, copies of their new school series. The committee hope before long to be able to report tliat every tcacher employed by the Board is a subscriber to tho library. .... ~ ~i A statement o* accounts is appended, by which it will be seen that thero is a balance of 17s 3d in the hands of tAo treasurer. The committee regret that the semces of Mr. H. T, Pycroft are no longeravailable as librarian, he haying accepted an appointment in a school not under the control'of the Board. Thethankaof the committee are due'to Mr.. Pycroft for the care and judgment he exercised in the classification of the books of the library, and for his trouble in the preparation of a catalogue, a copy of which has .been sent to veiy school in the p rovincial district. Mr. Leonard has kindly attended to the librarian's duty since the resignation of Mr. Pycroft, but the committee hope to be able to appoint librarian at this meeting. The retiring committee, consisting of Messrs. Worthington, Harrison, Grant, Bailey, Leonard, Woodham, and J. Edwards, was elected, and Mr. W. H. Nicholson, assistant at tho Wellesley-street School, was appointed librarian for the remainder of the year. On the motion of Messrs. Leonard and Grant, it was resolved, "That teachers not employed by the Board of Education may, with the consent of the committee, have the use of the library on payment of subscribers' fees. 1 '
It was ordered that the report and statement of accounts bo printed, and a copy sent to every school in the provincial district.
