DESTRUCTIVE FIRE AT NELSON.
[by telegraph.—press association.] Nelson, Thursday. A fire fire occurred at the Riwaka this morning, when the Travellers' Rest Hotel was burned to the ground, only one chimney is left standing. The flames obtained a hold suddenly, and the inmates experienced difficulty in effecting their escape. The landlord's children could not have got out had it not been for the second staircase. It,' is believed the fire originated in the tap-room, but in what manner is unknown. Tho building and furniture were insured in tho National for £400. '
