The s.s. Hero sailed last night for Sydney and Melbourne, with a large number of passengers and a general cargo of merchandise. The Union Co.'s s.s. Wanaka sailed last night for the East Coast and Southern ports, with passengers and cargo. The Union Co.'s s.s. Wellington is due in the Manukau early tbi3 morning from New Plymouth and Southern ports. She will return at 4 p.m. to-morrow. The brigantine Myrtle cleared at the Onehunga Customs yesterday for Wellington, with a full cargo of timber. The vessel will probably sail to-day. The ship Maraval will sail to-day for Lyttelton, in ballast. The brigantine Eliza Mary, that ha 3 been loading at the Manukau Heads, is now a full vessel, and is expected to sail to-day for Timaru. The schooner Wild Duck is loading at Onehunga with general cargo, for Waitara. The schooner Atalanta has commenced to load with timber at the Manukau Heads for Waitara. The s.s. Oreti is advertised to sail to-day from Onehunga at 3 p.m. for New Plymouth, Wanganui, and Southern ports, carrying passengers and cargo. The schooner Venture, for Norfolk Island and New Caledonia, is expected to sail tomorrow. The s.s. City of Sydney, Captain Dearborn, arrived in harbour shortly .after midnight, from Sydney, after a smart run of about 4 days G hours from Head to Hea<L The voyage was an exceedingly rough one; notwithstanding this, the steamer did some fast steaming, but had to ease-down when off the coast, as the weather yesterday was exceedingly thick, and increased in density in the evening. We are glad to notice that the City of Sydney is wellpatronised with passengers, not only to Auckland bat right through. We are indebted to Mr. Brewster, the purser, for prompt delivery of files and despatches. The P.M. s.s. City of Sydney, H. C. Dearborn, commander, left Sydney at 4 p.m. of the 27th ulfc. Experienced strong northerly winds and thick rainy weather and rough <seas throughout the entire passage. At 8.45 p.m. yesterday (March 3rd) passed the steamer Hero off the Little Barrier. Took tho Pilot on board at 11.38 p.m., and arrived as above. The steamer anchored out in tho stream, but will haul alongside the wharf during j the morning. She is expected to leave for i Honolulu and San Francisco at 2 p.m. to-day. 1 The s.s. Southern Cross, after an absence* of J several weeks from Auckland, arrived in port last night from Kaipara.
