WELLINGTON. February 2S.—Mr. O'shea reports : Adelaide oou ex store, £14, to arrive, £15 ; Canterbury, £0 to £9 10s; oats, old, -Is; potatoes, £7 to £7 103. No transactions in shares. CHRISTCHUKCH. , February 2S. —Grain and seed : Business this week has been in most respects similar to that of last week. The trade continues inactive. Wheat is being shipped in large quantities without passing through intermediate hands, and r nearly every vessel in the port has a share. It cannot, however, be anticipated that any very satisfactory returns will result from this course, judging from the present low rate ruling in the English market, while abundant and increasing * supplies which were arriving at homo from fresh grain-producing areas must augment the usual supply of former years very materially, without » a corresponding increase in the demand. Prices , are not likely to become any firmer than already quoted by last advices. Wheat: There have , been few sales ; first-class milling still quoted at os 2d to 3s 3d; others, inferior sample, 3s or a shade lower. Oats changed hands freely at 3s to 3s Id for good bright samples; for heavy 1 milling oats, 3s 2d; feed quoted at 2s 5d to 2s Sd. First class dressed samples, os Gd, while inferior lots are only command- i ing 4s Gd to 4s 9d. Several very large parcels of Xorth Island cocksfoot have been offering during the week without bringing out buyers. * Merchants apparently are not disposed to operate in excess of present orders, but anticipate more extensive sales of this description of grass seed during the coming week. Dairy produce : Butter is only in demand for local consumption, the price being lOd to Is ; cheese, Is 2d to Is 7d; hams and bacon without alteration. TIMARU. February 28.—The grain market is quiet. Store ~ cattle stilt continue plentiful. Low prices still prevail, although good fresh bullocks for winter , feeding will soon be enquired for, and no doubt improve in value. Properties : Great difficulty is experienced in effecting sales, owing to the extreme tightness of money, but there is always fair enquiry for good agricultural farms.
