Chancellor jumped off with a slight lead, Fish-hook and Titania next, and Vampire last. After going about a hundred yards Titania and Vampire supplanted Fish-hook, but, passing the stand, the last-named was on level terms with Vampire, and only half a-length behind Titania. Going round the back of the course Fish-hook took second place, and the four were spread out, with a clear length between each. At the far side of. the course Vampire made a determined effort, and, passing Titania, almost got on terms with Fish-hook, but soon fell back to keep the mare company. Chancellor and Fishhook drew away from them, and turned into the straight together, but Prudings had soon to be hard on Chancellor, and despite every effort on the part of the horse and rider, Fish-hook came in a comfortable winner by a clear length; Titania a bad third: Vampire last. The mare, who was full ofrunning, kept nearthc favourite, but tho rest were tailed off to an astonishing distance from the two leaders. On entering tho straight Numa had a lead of three lengths. This advantage he increased it every stride, winning, hands down, by 50 yards, Rosemary second, Exile a bad third. Time, 2mins. 21secs.
