CONOUERING HERO GOLD MINING COMPANY.
is consequence of the failure to obtain a quorum, the proposed meeting of the shareholders of the Cooquering Hero Gold Mining Company (Limited), which was to have been held yesterday, did not take place. The Allowing is a copy of the report of the directors, which was to have been submitted to the meeting : — 11 The directors re* gret having to report to the shareholders at Lhia second meeting, that although every »fTort was made to develop the minfi under the able management of Mr, Day, the suc2esss they hoped for did not supervene; md, as toe prospects in the mine were not sncouraginc:, they decided ia August last to lease operations, and close the mine, since which time nothing has been done. The Premier Company being in want of pumping and winding machinery, and having jftcred £SSO for such belonging to this compauy, the directors deemed it advisable to accept their offer, rather than allow their uacliinevy to remain where it was, being ikely to deteriorate iu value, and which ;hey could seb no probable use in retaining. Hie annexed exhaustive report from Mr. Day, the managing director, will fully ;xplain to the shareholders what has been lone during the last year. The balancesheet annexed will shew the financial position of the company. At thiß, the second netting of the company, Mr. Bennett and Mr. Morrin will retire from the directory, Jut, being eligible, offer themselves for reslection." The balance-sheet shewed the issets of the company to be £1472 9a lid, ind the liabilities, £Sl2 2s lid.
