ANOTHER SUICIDE AT THE THAMES.
[from our own correspondent.] Thames, Wednesday. Another suicide has occurred to-dav. A mail named Patrick McQuilkin cut his throat, almost severing the head from the body. He has been working at the Vale of Avoca claim, and this morning proceeded as usual with his mate to worjt. Shortly after starting work, however, his mate missed him, but learned from a man named Donnelly that deceased had gone into a hut to the claim. About 10 o'clock Donnelly* returned, and as McQuilkin had not come to work again, the mate requested Donnelly to stop at the lint and call him. Donnelly, however, found the door bolted on tho inside, and calling to the mate, together they burst it open, and were horrified to find McQuilkin lying on the floor of the hut in a pool of blood, with a fearful gash in his throat, the windpipe being completely se-vcrcd. In a tub near at hand was a razor, with which it is supposed the deed was committed. Iu his habits the man was quiet, but rather peculiar. He has been drinking very heavily lately.
