The Olago Daily Times thinks that it will bo found to be a mistake to amalgamate the Otago Police Force with the Armed Constabulary. The man who answered an advertisement to the followirig'cffect had his curiosity satistied :—" If you would learn to make a home happy, send half-a-crown in postage stamps to A.8.," &c. Upon Teceipt of postage stamps, A.15., replied : —"Your homo would be more : happy if you were less frequently there." "How much' will your new school books cost, Johnny '!" says father. Johnny calculates to himself, suUo voce, " Lemme see : G2 cents for the singing book, 75 cents for a now 'rithmotic, §1 25 for a new, ' joggrapliy,' 25 cents for a hockey, harf a dollar for a new bat, and a quarter for candy." Then out aloud says: '"Bout four dollars, pa!"--Boston Traveller.
