MELANCHOLY ACCIDENT TO A CHILD.
A.TSKT sad. accident -occurred yesterday morning; in William-street, off Chancery Lane, to a boy named! James King, aged five years. The little fellow, who is the fosterchild of Mr. and Mrs. Connolly, hjid/.jnsfc. been washed preparatory to going to and was playing, at the top of .the ■when his foot slipped,' and he was precipi»> tated to the bottom, striking his head against a kerosene tin and the edge of a spade. Mrs. Connolly was at the foot of the stairs at the time, and. seeing the child stumble, rushed forward' to catch him, but. unhappily failed to do so. The blood flowed copiously fronr a jagged wound. Ore. Kenderdine and Goldsbro' were sent for, and speed?!- responded to the summons. After making an examination of the boy, they stated tliat the skull had been fractured, and expressed their conviction that the accident would result fatally. The lad fell a distance of eight feet. Dr. Goldsbro' paid the little sufferec another visit last night, bat no change had then taken place.
