DOMAIN BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Domain Board was held in the (Jity Council offices, at noon yesterday. The following members were present : Mr. Foaton (in the chair), and Messrs. Brett and Hughes. Minutes.—The minutes of the former meeting were read and confirmed. Bowling Green.—Mr. Hughes reported re the bowling green that the Land Commissioner had declined to take proceedings in reference to the bowling green property until he had received formally a letter from the secretary of the Domain Board, requesting him to act in the matter. When the letter was read, he would at once take the matter in hand. After some discussion, a motion to the following effect was carried : " Tiiat tho Board will not interfere with the occupation by Messrs. Arthur and Co., of the bowling green, if applied to the objects for which it was granted. Hosvital Site. —A letter was read from His Honor the Superintendent, stating that the Building Commissioners, in selecting a site for the proposed new hospital, had found the most convenient one to be that upon the top of the hill. The occupation of this site would, however, necessitate a slight encroachment upon the land of the Domain Board. The letter asked for an exchange of the land required for hospital purposes in return for an equivalent area of the hospital trust property adjacent to the Domain. —Upon the motion of Mr. Brett, seconded by Mr. Hughes, it was agreed, '' That the request should be granted, subject to the arrangement as to the piece of land to be exchanged, and the drainage." It was also decided that Messrs. Fenton and Brett be appointed a committee to make arrangements.

Fencing.—The matter of erecting a fence between the Hospital and Domain grounds was deferred for the present. Deed.—The deed of the conveyance oi: a narrow strip of laud near Stanley-street to the Domain Board was received from tho Superintendent, its receipt ordered to be acknowledged, and the secretary instructed to register the same. Correspondence.—A letter from the Acclimatisation Society was received, with thanks. Several unimportantant letters wero received.

Accounts. —The ordinary accounts -were passed. Domain Entrances.—lt was agreed that the entrances for foot passengers to tho Domain from Stanley-street be put into good order, and that the Ranger be authorised to incur the necessary exjjense, subject to the approval of Messrs. Fcnton and Brett. Cricket Ground.—On the motion of Mr. Brett, seconded by Mr. Hughes, it was agreed that the sum of £10 should be given to the trustees of the Cricket Ground, to be expended in rolling the ground, to the satisfaction of Messrs. Fenton and Brett. Native Trees.—Mr. Hughes was of opinion that in the Domain should be preserved, and restored as far as possible, the New Zealand forest. To this end lie moved, " That Mr. Chalmers be instructed to save all seeds of native trees and shrubs in the Domain, and also to report to tho Board any means he may be aware of by whieli native seeds may be obtained from elsewhere. This concluded the business.
