POLICE COURT. —Saturday.
[Before Thomas Beckham, Esq., B.M.] Drunkenness.—Two persons pleaded guilty to charges of drunkenness, and were punished in the usual manner. Disobeying an Order of the Court.— Wm. Laxou was charged by Harriet Green with failing to comply with the order of the Court, to contribute towards the support of his illegitimate child. Mr. Armstrong appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. Laishley for the defendent. Mr. Armstrong stated that the case had been compromised, the defendant having agreed to give the sum of £20 with costs (£G 10s Gd). The Bench agreed to this settlement of the case, and adjourned it for a week in order to secure the fulfilment of the terms of composition. Obscene Language.—Sarah McMauus, a girl sixteen years of age, was charged on remaud with having used obscene language. As the defendent promised to go to the Home and conduct herself properly, and as the matron of the Home was willing to accept her, the charge was witlirawn.
