MR. GEORGE COX MISSING.

In a former issue, wo published the fact of Mr. Gorge Cox, of Waiuktt, having been miss -d from his home en the 12th instant. Since that, time, diligent search has been made for him, but without success. Mr. Cox has been, for some time pas', of unsound mind and if is feared that he may have dr owne d himself. The male members of his family, assisted by all settlers of the district who were able, to the number of a hundred, have scoured the whole country, and dragged the Mauku creek, hut no traces have been found. Constable Gamble, of Pupakura. also assisted in the search, and was satisfied that nothing more could be done. The creek is now being watched, in expectation of the body floating. Mr. Cox was one of the oldest and most respected settlers in the neighbourhood, and his loss casts a gloom over the district. He is described as being of fifty threo years of age, about five feet eight inches high, rather bald head, with sandy, bushy, full beard and moustache; was dressed in new moleskin trousers, shepherd's plaid Crimean shirt, and a drab felt hat.
