MR. BUCKLAND'S WOOL SALE.

Yesterday, at the Haymarket, took place the first wool sale of the season. The sale was well attended, and nearly the whole of the lots—about one thousand— catalogued were sold; but very few having been passed. As a whole the wool pitched yesterday was very creditably got up, and some of the bales would have commanded admiration in any part of the Australian Colonies. Prices realized, owing no doubt to the encouraging news brought by the s.s. Hero, just in time to affect the sale, ruled a trifle, say from id to j;d higher than at last year's sale; the liitrhest obtained was 15d, for some of S. Fleming's, S. G. Baird's, and H. S. Mnchael's. Our report will show the names of the principal buyers, and the prices obtained; also, the peculiar ! ideas that influenced them m their biddings. Some, flying at high game, . touched nothing but frood staple, washed ; others contented themselves with locks and pieces. The same old complaint mitsf, however, be made as to the want of care in the preparation of some of the fleeces ; some few of them were as discreditable \o the growers as they must have been unprofitable to them. There is one exception that we may perhaps be permitted to take in reference to the pitching ot the lots, and that is, that different classes of wool differently got up should be offered in one lot. This system tends to confusion, and acts prejudicially on the belter sample. We would suggest to our wool-growers the advisability of obtaining the services of .1 first class wool-sorter, whose care it should be to see that there is no mixture of wool in any bale, and who should give a written guarantee to that effect, on which sales might be effected. We cannot see that any difficulty stands in the way of such an arrangement, and we are confident that sheep-owners would ere long fird their account in doing so, as we have, with all due submission, suggested. 2 bales, LB over A. half-bred, washed, SJd, Scarrott ; sd, T.
