MEETING OF SUPERINTENDENTS OF SUNDAY SCHOOLS.
A kbetiko of Superintendents' of Sunday Schools in Auckland was held last evening nt the Young Men's '■ Christian Association Booms, Mr. W. Taylor in the chair. There was a good attendance, the various Sunday Schools being wall represented. Consider able dissatisfaction was expressed because the Royal deception Committee had neglected to reply to a communication forwarded by the Secrotary of tho Sunday Schools Committee. Captain Daldy, howover, explained that the Reception Committee had been unable to Rivo any definite information to the Sunday Schools Committee as to tho part the children would take in the d.-nvmstnition until the deception Committee had itself first ascertained the views of tho Government, «nd the amount intended to be placed at their disposal. Ho also explained that the Keception Committee intended to confine their control of the schools simply t6 pointing out the petitions they should occupy on the occasion. The idea of assembling the children in Queen-street seemed to meet with the dieapprovrl of the meeting, and it was suggested that it would be necessary to provide refreshments for the children. After considerable discussion, in which the propriety of the part proposod to he taken by the children in the demonstration, the moral effect of the demonstration on the children themselves, the probability of success, and various other matters were discussed, with all the minuteness their importance deserved, it was agreed that the committee appointed at a former meeting of the superintendent?, be requested agxin to put themselY*) in communication with the Secretary of the Eoyal Reception Committee, and to make all necessary arrangements. The Committee i< composed as follows :—Messrs. Smart. Smith, Leonard, Buddie, Taylor, and jKiHsHnc Mr. Taylor was appointed Secretary to the Committee. It was also moved, that the schools assemble to welcome his Excellency the Governor, Sir G. 1 Howtn, on his arrival in Auckland. The meeting were almost unanimously of opinion, that with the difficulty of arrunging the details of the part to be taken by the schools on the arrival of the Prince, do additional measures could be undertaken. The eub-rommiltee were empowered to have printed 3000 copies of tho " National Anthem," for distribution to the Bchools.
