WRECK OF THE NAUTILUS—ERRATUM.
To the Editor of the New Zealand Heuald. Sir, —Permit me, through your valuable journal, to correct an error which occurred in the report of the wreck of the above-named veisel in tlie.i>ano of the Southern Cross of yesterday, 2Gth instant., in which it states that the cutter Miranda was unable to accommodate moro than a lady passenger of the wrecked cutter Nautilus, and that the crew and tlio remaining passongera were left o:i tlio inhospitable rock of Whalo Island to await another vessel, and then they were obliged to wait for ten days. Now, as captain of the cutter Mirand>i, I most emphatically deny that I couM not afford room in my craft for my shipwrecked brethern. I had plenty of room in my vessel, and it would have afforded me great pleasure to have given tliem a passngo to Slangawai, fur which port my cutter jvas bound. I pressed both passengers and crow to accompany me, but the captain and crew refused to do so, stating that they first wanted to go to Opotiki, and to get nil the gear they could out of Uib vessel before tlioy abandunod her. TJnder these circumstances I proceeded to my destination without them.—X have, &c., Ciiahles J HDD.
