PAPAKURA.
[l-l O.M A CORRESPONDENT.] - Resident jVLujistkate's Court. —Dec. 7th. (Before Charles Mollsop. Esq., R.M,) Pamuel Smith, William Sm'th, and James Chaneim privates in her Majesty's 12th Regiment of Foot, wore brought up on remand, charged with being connected in tho robbery of a cheque value £5 10s. 3d., drawn by Ensign Butt", 2nd bat. 18tli Regt., alt'iched C.T.C., in favor of Private Burgess. Three witnesses, in addition to those already examined, gave evidence, but of such a character that his Worship, seeing tliero was not sufficient evidence before the Court to warrant a committal, dismissed the case —the prisoners evidently pleased to get released after eight or ten days' confinement. Messrs. Hunter and Buckland held a cattle sale here on Wednesday. There was a pood number of steers sold at average prices; but few speculations took place in horses. There was a fair attendance, and the prices realized throughout seemed to please tho seller and the buyer.
I believe wo are going to have an additional township offered shortly for sale —tho surveyors are busily employed laying it out, and will shortly bo completed, with the advantages of plenty of bush near, and water convenient. 1 havo no doubt but it will be a most profitable investment; already there are marked signs of improvements about hero. Captain Pye is getting four very pretty cottages built, which will bo soon ready for occupying; and several other persons are building houses also. We are getting a gradual increase in our population, in the shape of some of the wives of the Waikato Militia stationed hero.
