The J. L. ITall loft Dartmouth on tho 19tli .Tune, and cleared the channel on tho 23rd; crossed the Equator on the 20tli July, in longitude 29*15 W. She had very bad trade winds, and passed tho moridian of the Capo of Good Hope on tho 21st August. Her highest southing attained in running down her easting was latitude 4-7 —the wind being principally from N.W. to S.S.W., blowing in heavy gales. She passed south of Tan Diemen's Land on the 2Gth ult., and Ims encountered the full force of tin; lute gale. On Thursday last, sho was in latitude 38*53 S., longitude 151*15 E., when the breeze came on suddenly and with extraordinary force from the S.E.; the sea got up very rapidly, nnd the ship was kept before it as long as it was deemed prudent to run her, no observation being obtainable; when sho was hove to. Very heavy seas broke on board, one of which carried he longboat and jolly boat, out of tho chocks overboard, nnd seriously damaged tho port bulwarks. The main chain locker hatches were also stove, had many things swept off the deck. The storm con tinned from Thursday to Sunday, when it subsided the J. L. Hall being then in latitude 33*28 S. On the Ist August, boarded tho ship R. Stepping, from London to Madras, in latitude 19*10 S., longitude 3G22 \V.. her captain having died the previous day ; and the chief otliccr, being in charge, at whose request Captain Richardson officiated in paying the last tributo of respect to a brother sailor. —J bid.
Tho barque Bella Mary arrived from Auckland early yesterday morning, and berthed in the dock. The Bella Mary left Auckland on the 28th ult., and has encountered variable weather during the passasre, chielly light winds and squalls from the S. and S.W Sho brings several passengers, and a cargo of New Zealand Pine. Cnpt. Coppin reports having spoken the Runnymedo off Maria Island on Friday last, with 50 tuns oil.- —JTobart Town Mrrcttr;/, September 19.
