Harris, waited on the Colonial Secretary for the purpose of forwarding, ihrough him, to his Excellency the petition "which lias been lying for the last two days for signature at tlie several banking offices,"and at other places in the city, praying his Excellency to set aside the recommendation of the Government, and call the Assembly for it-; next session at Auckland instead of "Wellington. The petition contains some fifteen hundred addresses, and, as a matter of course, it was received by the Colonial Secretary with a promise that he would forward it to his Excellency.
