Yachting.

This Saturday is set down for the Mills Memorial Cup, a race for . firstclass yachts. The following are the likely starters: Waitangj, Kotiri, Wairere No. 2, Itona, Atalanta, Viola, and possibly White Wings. The three firstnamed boats are likely to provide the winner. A pleasing feature of the race will be the winning of; a small cup which will be the property of the holder, the Mills Memorial Trustees having decided to present one to the winner for the first three years. This generous action on the part of the Trustees will be much appreciated by yachtsmen. The course is , from Clyde-quay Wharf to BJoroko-ro, thence to the Pinnacle Buoy and.back. I regret the Club did. not see fit to include Evans Bay in the first leg as some grand work can be done either beating out of this bay or vice versa. '■- . The Ladies' Kace, which was set down for the 16th instant- and postponed on account of there not being a breath of wind (not a® one .stated in "The Yachtsman" on account of threatening weather) was again postponed last Saturday, there not being enough wind to enablei. the boats to reach the starting line. Truly, a most remarkable phase of Wellington weather. The Waitangi's skipper has taken his craft to the Sounds for the purpose of getting cleaned and will be back in time for to-morrow's race. All the other yachts' skippers are using their utmost endeavours to get their boats in as good racing trim as possible. A good view of the race dan be obtained from Seatoun and thence to town by tram to witness the finish.
