A NEW POLITICAL PARTY.
Not Wanted. a new political party and * yet another Political League shall be founded we fail to see. The. speakers at the meeting the other night certainly advanced no good arguments why yet another political organisation shall be formed. The guiding principles of the new league, as set forth by Mr. Parkinson, are already accepted and supported by practically the whole of the old Liberal Party, and many of them would find favour with Mr. Massey 3 s_ old supporters. Mr. Parkinson's insinuation that the two. old parties represent • respectively ' 'the capitalists and 'Red Feds.' " is all nonsense. There is ho such thing as a capitalist political party in this country. Mr. John Rigg's idea is that the new league party should eventually amalgamate with the Labour Party, but, if so, why have a new league at all? What is really wanted in. this country is less party and fewer leagues and more political common sense and less mischievous theory and, above all, more genuine patriotism, as may and ought to be exhibited by men having no 1 ,party at all save the State. We are afraid the new _ pompously entitled New Zealand Political League will not cut much, ice with the great majority of the electors.
