Lacrosse.
The usual weekly practice match was played on the Basin Reserve on Saturday afternoon, between teams chosen by Messrs. Montgomery and McPherson, the former winning by four goals to three. Wilson and Poupard were the shining lights of the winning team, and McPherson, Montgomery, Casey, White and Horn showed up prominently for the losers. Some of the new players showed great promise. Eagle and Fryer shaped well, and are very fast. Young Douglas Clouston showed up well, and proved himself to be a chip of the old block. Bellew, in goal, surpassed himself, and saved many hot shots. Mr. Gurley gave great satisfaction as referee.
