THE OPEN-AIR HOME.
COMMENCING THE WORK,
CIIRISTCHURCH, Jan. 27,
At to-day's meeting of the Hospital Board, it was reported that llic combined Public Health and Buildings Committee had met' ou January 20, aud proceeded to the Sanatorium lo inspect the site upon which it is proposed lo creel the Home for Tuberculous Children. Dr. Chcsson (District Health Ofliccr) and Mr Collins (architect) accompanied the party. As a consequence the Board was re-, commended to adopt the site proposed, and to empower the committee to have the necessary ex'cavatiou carried out so soon as the plans and the site have been approved by the Minister of Public Health. At the same time the committee inspected the area of ground which is at present under consideration as a site for the Open-Air Home for Children, and for the future extension of the Sanatorium, but pending the decision 'of the Minister with regard to the purchase, the committee is not at present I in a position to make a dclinito recommendation to the Board. >
The Chairman (Mr P, Horrcll) said that it was proposed, to'spend £2OOO of the money which had been'raised for the Open-Air Home on the work recommended by the committee. The Board expressed its sense of •gratitudo to those who had been instrumental ,in raising the money for the Homo.' ■ .-...-.• -'
