CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER.
Per Press Association, Christchurch, May 22, At tho Supreme Court to-day a young man named William Alexander. Robinson was indicted ;for that, being the son of Margaret Bobinson, • and having up to May lllli charge of tho said Margaret Robinson, who, by reason of her age and sickness wa9 unable to provide herself with tho necessaries of life, ho did, on April 15th and subsequent days, and up to tho decense of 'Margaret Robinson on May Hth, omit, without lawful excuse, to supply the same Margaret Robinson with the necessaries of life, by reason whereof she died, awl by such omission ho did commit the crime of manslaughter. On a second count the accused was indicted, for manslaughter by failing to provide his mothtv with medical attendance and. competent nurse. A verdict of guilty was returned, based on the finding that accused had failed to call in a medical man, which failure was due to an error of judgment. The Judge ordered accused, to pay £lO towards the cost of tho prosecution, and ordered him ti come up for sentence when called on.
