WHITE ORPINGTONS.

The following is tho standard 'issued by tlio Variety Orpington Chili, which protects tho interests in I'.ngland of the White Orpingtons, as well as of tho Jubilee and Spangled Orpingtons:—

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS OF COCK.

Head and Neck.—Head:. Small, neat, fairly full over the eye; carried erect. Beak: Strong and nicely curved. Kyc: Full, bright, and intelligent, Comb: Single or rose. Tlio single comb to bo of medium size, erect, and evenly serrated; free from side sprigs. The rose oomb should bo set straight and firmly on itlib head; full of fine work or spikes; frc c from hollow in centre, aud narrowing behind to a distinct peak; lying well down to head (not sticking up). Earlobes: Medium size, rather oblong, nicely rounded. Wattles: Medium longth, rather oblong. Neck: Nicely curved, with full hackle. Body.—Breast: Broad, deep and full, carried well forward; long straight breastbone. Hack: Appearing short, with broad shoulders. Saddle: Ilisinn slightly, with full hackle. Wings: Well formed and carried close to the body! Skin: Thin and fine in texture. Flesh: Firm. Tail: Medium size, flowing and inclined baokwards. Legs and fcet.Thjjjlis: Short, Shanks. Comparatively short and strong. Toes: four in number, well spread, General Shape and Carriage: Cobby and compact, erect and graceful. Size and weight: Moderately • large, about 9 or lOlbs, when fully matured. Plumage: Fairly close. GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS OF HEN. Hea/d and Neck: As in cock. .

_ Body—Breast, back, and wings: As in cock, Cushion: Small, but sufficient to giro the back a short and graceful curved appearance. Skin and flesh: is in cock. Tail: Medium size, inclined backward and upward. Legs and feet: Ab in cock,

General shape and Carriage: As in cock.

Sizo and Weight: Moderately laffje, about 7 or 8 lbs, wheii fully matured. Plumage: Fairly dose. COLOUR IN WHITE ORPINGTONS.

In Both Sexes.—Beak: White. Eye: Red. Comb, face, carlobes, and wattles: Red. Shanks: White. Skin and flesh: White. Plumage: Puro snow white, with a good lustre, free from any foreign colour.
