LICENSING ELECTION.

The following is the result of the polling to elect five members to the Oamaru Licensing Committee. Very little interest was taken in the event, as wi'l be seen from the voting. The figures we gite below are only for the town aud Hilderthcpe. No arrangements were m de to get the resul's in from the country polling places, and it is quite possible when they do come in that it will be found that a small proportion of the voters have recorded their votes :

CODBTiOUSE. J. L. Allan „ ... .« 287 F. Turpie 285 D. Bonia _ 284 J. Williams 281 J. Cagney .„ .« ... 279 H, Dennison ... ._ .... 47

SOUTH SCHOOL. J.L.Allan .„ 31 F. Turpie 31 J. Williams .. 30 D. Borrie 28 J. Cagney ... ... .~ 27 H. Dennison 14

NORTH SCHOOL. J.L.Allan - 42 D. Borrie 41 J CagQ«y ... ... •« 40 T. Williams 40 F. Turpie 39 H. Dennison 8

lIILDERTHOBPE. J. Cagney 20 I). Borrie 19 F. Turpie 17 J.Williams 16 J. L. Allan ~ 16 H. Dennison 13

The aggregates ate as followe : J. L- Allan - 376 F. Turpie .- 372 D. Borrie 372 J. Williams ... 367 J. Cagney 366 H Dennison 82 If is improbable tbab the result will be much affected by the polling in the country.
