North Otago Times Office, Saturday afternoon. The whe.t market has not iv any vvay improved during the past weck. If anything there has been a slight decline, and there is no prospect of any improTement. ' I e American wheat crop is larger this yeir than it ever haibeen before, notwithstanding the fact that America has fre(]i cntly been spoken of as & country that would soon cease to be an exporting wheat country. The visible supply is greater than it ever has been, and this will act as a deterrent upon prices obtainable in the colony, and for colonial exported wheat, unless something happens in the meantime. In the face of these facts millers hare been buying this week at lower prices. Prime velvet wheat has been bought at 3s and 3s 2d, and primest 'I uscan at 3a 3d and 3s 4d. Uats are firmer at Is 9d for prime short, and Is 6d to Is 8d for Danish and '} artar feed. There is active enquiry for all kinds of oats Barley is without chauge, .■ml potatoes are selling at 13s per ton. Braii and pollard are at L 3 10s and L 3 15s> lespectivcly, and straw and oaten chaff are without alteration Dairy produce is becoming more plentiful, Butter is 8d and eggs 6d. Pork, 3|d to 3Jd.
