Sir, — Could you inform me, through your columns, whether there igaGairison B<«id in Oamaru, and if there is, does it receive any support fioin (he Government ? I ask you the above to decide a i question that n*a arisen on the subject, and if was agreed to refer it to you Thanking you in anticipation. Bactipes. [Rule 83 of the Defence Act and Vol unteer Regulations Is very explicit on the above question. The rule re.dsna follows : " Where the fixed establishment at headquarters is of not leca than four corps the band ah ill be called a garrison band, and an annual allowance of L 25 will be granted tnwaids defraying the expemts thereof." According to the above rule there ia not a garrison band m Oanraru, aa there are only two compmies at hpadquarters. We do not know whetfisr the band known as tho Girrison receives any supp >rt from the Government, but if they do tht>y receive it wrongfully— that is according to tho regulitions.]
