FARMERS' AND EMPLOYERS' MEETING AT PUKEURI.
There was a large attendance at tho mooting held at Pukeuri on Tuesday night, between 60 and 70 persons being present Mr W. Easton occupied tho chair, and explainod the object of the meeting, vrhich ho, as delegate, had called. Mr Boreham, secretary to tho Shearers' and Laborers' Union, who was present, asked if tho mooting was open to the public, as from the wording of the advertisement calling the meeting he was led to believe it was. If bo, he attended to ropresent the Laborers' Union. The Chairman said Mr J3oreham was welcomo to remain at tho meeting, and no doubt the employers of lubor would be pleased to hear from Mr Boreham what wore the intentions of his Union. Mr Goodall thought as the meeting had been called for the purpose of discussing the log of tho Shearers' and Laborers' Union, that the omployors should first discuss that by themselves. Mr Boreham said ho had at other meetings said the log had been withdrawn, and he wished to make the fltatoment again. He was quito willing, it the meeting desired it, that the members of tho union he ropreuented should withdraw. Mr Watt said it appeared to him that tho union had acted straightforwardly to employer?, and ho could see no reason why anyone should withdraw. Mr Boreham thankod Mr Watb for his ronmrkf, Mr Watt then moved that all omployera present join tho Farmora' and J^mployera' Olub. This Was seconded by Mr Boreham, and carried. Mr Boroham then addressed the meeting, and pointed out many circumstances that had compelled working men to com- l bine to form a Union to proteot thorn Ho would adviso farmers to co-oporate, m ho felt sure it would be to their mutual 'benefit lo do so.
