CHRISTCHURCH.
January 19. At the Supremo Court, John Meiklejohn, a Hororata farmer, was sentonced to eight years' penal servitude for Btealing sheep, on two indictments, from Sir John Hall and Mr M'Oordy, a station owner. On Monday a special jury will try the libel case against G. G. Stead by John Paxton, a former clerk in his office. Samples of raw silk manufactnred here by Mr Federli are on view. They will bo sent home.
