MEETING OF TOWN BOARD.

An adjourned meeting of the Board was held, as arranged, on Thursday evening last, in the Court-house. The following members weie piesent, vir., Messrs S. Gibbs, Al. Grenfell, J. Waddell, and G. R. Taylor. Mr Gibbs in the chair. The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Clerk then lead the communication! ho had received from the Provincial Secretaiy, with refeience to various matters lately before the Board. The meeting considered the reply as to the Crown Grants for, and management of, the Municipal Reserves, very vague suid unsatisfactory. On the motion of Mr Grenfell, seconded by Air Waddell, the Clerk was instructed to again put himself in communication with the Provincial Secietary, and ask for further information on the subject. Carried. A conversation then ensued on the subject of the correspondeuce geneially, when Mr Gicnfcll moved that a Sub-Committee, consisting of Messis Gibbs, Waddell, Thompson, and the mover, be appointed to confer with the Cleik in reference to tho couespondence from the Provincial Government, with power to communicate with the Geneial Assembly or His Excellency the Goveinoi, or otheiwiso make reply in any way they may think best. The motion was seconded by Mr G. R. Taylor, and car lied unanimously. An account from Messrs Fererusson and Mitchell, for Lfi for a stamp for the Board, was next brought befoie the meeting. In Decembei last the Board had w« itten to Messrs Feigusson and Mitchell, stating that the price charged was exoibitant, but no leply had been vouchsafed till now, when the account was attain letuined, and no notice taken of the Boaid's former communication. Twenty shillings was consuleied ample payment for the article. The Cleik was instructed to reply as before. The meeting then took up the matter of the tlebt to the Bank of New Zealand, and resolved on measurei which they considered would settle that difficulty. The meeting then adjourned.
