Silver Wedding

J On the evening of January 28th, Mr. and Mrs. J. Babich of this district celebrated their silver wedding in the Waiharara War Memorial Hall. A large number of guests were welcomed by Mr. and Mrs. Babich, j_ | the latter being very becomingly i gowned in a frock of turquoise blue. | She carried a pretty bouquet which was handed to her by a small girl. Mr. Ted Smith made a very efficient m.c. and Mr. F. Evans (whom we are “ glad t 0 say, is well again) supplied ’ his usual happy style of music. A 3 novelty dance was won by Mr. A. a Jackson and Mrs. Percy Steed. A very bountiful supper was supplied, with plenty of liquid refreshment of all 0 sorts, after which Mr. T. Smith paid a tribute to Mr. and Mrs. Babich on d behalf of the whole district. Musical o honours were accorded the happy o couple and Mr. Joe Babich, on behalf o of his parents, thanked all for com- ’• ing along to make this a memorable ■’ occasion and for all the lovely prese ents they had received. The lovely cake which had been made by Mrs. Percy Steed, and iced 1 and decorated with silver by Mrs. G. e Mikhalovich, was then cut and handed around. The party ended at midnight, but will be talked of for a long time to come. ® Up for the occasion from Auck- / land, was Mrs. D. Lupis and Barry, who are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jerkovich of Motutangi. Mr. L. Babich had intended to motor from Auckland for his parents’ party, but unfortunately his car broke down soon after he left the city, so he did not complete the trip.
