Te Puhi W.I.

The monthly meeting of Te Puhi Women’s Institute was held on November 4th when Mrs. Tracey presided over a good attendance. Competitions for the month were : Arranged tin of flowers—Mesdames Brockbank and Thompson 1, Mesdames Cochrane and Edwards 23 plain scones Mesdames Cochrane and Dawson 1, Mesdames Buckingham and Johnson 2 ; arts and crafts—Five articles were awarded full marks, with two gaining second prize. The twelve articles for the bi-annual Federation meeting at Peria, wer e selected from those exhibited at the meeting. Christmas gifts were exchanged, as several members expect to be “conspicuous by their absence” at the December meeting. During the afternoon Mrs. Tracey gave a demonstration on the making of felt posies. This was greatly appreciated by members. Competitions were won by Mesdames Cochrane, A. Edwards and Miss I. Cochrane. The luncheon hostesses were Mesdames Johnson and Thompson. The meeting closed with the singing of the N.Z. Anthem.
