ANGLICAN CHURCH NEWS Flower Show The annual Anglican Flower Show was held on Friday 21st February in the A. and P. Hall. For the amount of work involved by the members of the Ladies’ Guild and their helpers, it could only be described as a very disappointing show—it was said by some people to be the “worst ever.” Entries were few, but to those who did make entries in the various classes, we extend our thanks and hope that they will not be discouraged and will meet keener and much more competition next year. We extend our congratulations to Mrs. Geo. Stensness, the winner of the Cup for most points gained, to Mrs. Crosby for the Champion Dahlia and to Mrs. Cox, the winner of the trophy for the most points in the Decorative Section. Our thanks are due to the judges, stallholders, and all who worked so hard to make it a success, and let it be remembered that disappointment may always be overcome by courage and renewed effort. Social and Dance On Saturday evening the Anglican Parishioners of the North held a Social and Dance in the Rio Hall. It was a very happy and successful function and it is hoped to have several more of such a nature throughout the year. During the course of the evening the Vicar outlined the condition of the Parish and the needs to be met, and thanked those responsible for organising the function and those who attended and made it such a success. Mr. J.E. “Ted” Smith acted as m.c. The monte carlo dance was won by Miss Andrews and partner, while Mr. Andrews and partner won the ticket waltz.
