Wedding of Miss Leslie Kirtlan
The marriage took place last Wednesday, at the Anglican Church, Kaitaia, between Leslie Winifred, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Kirtlan of Takahue, and Raymond Andrew, second son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Crawford of Whangarei. The Rev. H. G. Taylor officiated at the ceremony. The bride, who entered the church with her father, was attired in a frock of cream brocaded satin, cut on princess lines, the bodice front being fastened to the waist with a row of small buttons. The long, fitting sleeves, puffed at the shoulders, were buttoned at the back with small buttons, and the flared skirt fell to form a beautiful train. Her tulle veil was held by a halo of orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of cream roses and asparagus fern. Attending the bride were her two sisters, Misses Myrtle and Olive Kirtlan, who were dressed alike in frocks of lavender satin beaute, the neat bodices having peter pan collars and short puff sleeves, and the skirts being fully flared. They wore girdles of lavender and green, and on their heads they wore Victorian hats of pale green stiffened net, trimmed with a lavender orchid and held to the head with lavender ribbon. Fan-shaped bouquets of sweet peas and asparagus were carried. The two small flower girls, Dorothy Urlich and Lily Kirtlan, were frocked alike in pale green taffeta with trimmings of lavender, and wore Victorian hats trimmed with lavender ribbon. They carried horseshoes of sweet peas and asparagus. Mr. W. Bell and Mr. V. Williams acted in the capacities of bestman and groomsman respectively. At a reception held at the Parish Hall, Mrs. Kirtlan received her guests. She wore a navy floral frock with a wine hat and matching accessories, and carried a bouquet of pink rosebuds. The groom’s mother, Mrs. Crawford, wore a navy figured ensemble with navy hat, shoes and gloves. Mr. A. Wright carried out the duties of toastmaster. A feature of the two-tier wedding cake was the flower surmounting it, this having also adorned the wedding cake of the bride’s mother. , After the reception the bride and ■ groom left for the south, the bride ’ wearing a brown costume with toning j accessories. ’ Mr. and Mrs. Crawford will make ’ their future home near Whangarei.
