Waiharara Welcomes Mr. and Mrs. Haughton
A delightful evening was given at Waiharara on Saturday when Mr Haughton, headteacher of the Waiharara School, and Mrs. Haughton were entertained by a large number of local residents. The function was arranged by Mr. E. Wattridge, chairman of' the school committee, to welcome Mr. Haughton, recently appointed teacher to the school and his bride.
The evening was chiefly spent in dancing, the novelty events being won by M rs. E. Shine and T. Dnigecivich (monte carlo) and Miss Srlioj and N. Uflalir (balloon). The competition was won by Mr. M. Yelas. The chairman during an interval, in a neat speech, thanked those present for their attendance, and expressed the wish that Mr. and Mrs. Haughtou’s stay amongst them might be a very happy one. Mr. Haughton suitably responded. Mr. Wattridge then presented Mrs, Haughton with a large bouquet, and ‘‘ For they are jolly good fellows” was sung. Supper was served during the interval and dancing brought the evening to a close.
