NORTHERN SHEEP FAIRS
The N.A. Farmers’ Co-op. report holding sheep fairs this week when they yarded upwards of 5,000 at Herekitioi 6,800 at Victoria Valley, and 1,000 at Mangamuka, Outside buyers were in attendance and with competition keen an almost total clearance was effected. Over 80% of the offerings were bought for southern districts. Fat wethers made up to 21/1, 4-tooth to 19/,2-tooth 17/ to 18/3. Best ewes 4 and 6-tooth 27/ to 30/, good 4 and 6 tooth and F.F.M. 21/6 to 24/-, 2-tooth ewes to 25/1, 4 and 5 year ewes 18/ to 21/6, 5 year ewes 16/ to 17/6, aged ewes 11/ to 15/ C> cull ewes 7/6 to 10/. Best fat and forward lambs to 17/6, ewe lambs to 16/, good lambs 12/ to 14/, fair lambs 9/ to 11/ cull lambs 6/6 to 8/6. Southdown and Romney rams to guineas. DAIHY COMPANY NOTEH The advance payment against January butterfat supply to the Kaitaia Dairy Company has Ween fixed at 9bj}d per lb first grade. The output at the Awanui factory for January was 271 tons 4cwt,a decrease in comparison to January of last season of 3 39%. The total output for the season to the end of January is 1171 tons Bcwt. a reduction in comparison with the corresponding period of last season of 112 tons 13cwt., or 9.62%. During the first period of February the daily production of butter has shown considerable improvement and is in excess of the corresponding period of the previous season. Continued favourable production during the balance of the season will offset the present recorded output losses.
