The Kaitaia Library

Sir, —There is a certain class of people who have the habit of talking at public meetings, without having the slightest idea of what they are talking about. Some members of the Library committee seem to me to be definitely in this category. How do they know that people who take serious books from the library don't read them ? That might be their own practice but then they should not judge others as doing the same. Why should not the readers of fiction buy their own ? The only fair way of deciding what percentage should be spent on non fiction, would.be ik the librarian could form an estimate of the demand for non fiction as compared with fiction. Yours, etc... F.
