Northern Hokianga

Personal Mr. and Mrs. Mclntyre and family of Umawera are camping at NinetyMile Beach. Mrs. Harry Whittaker of Rangiahua, accompanied by her father and her two daughters, is spending a few weeks in town. Mr. Ernest Wattam of Auckland, who has been for two weeks the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Ogle of Happy Valley, has returned home. He was acompanied by the two young daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Ogle, Efifie and Gwen, who will be the guests of the Wattam’s for a few weeks. Mrs. Charlie White of Moerewa and her family, are visiting her relatives at “The Booms.” Miss Frances Morrell of Waimamaku has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Harrison. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Tulloch and family, and Mr. and Mrs. George Neil of Tutekehua, are staying for a few weeks at Cooper’s Beach, Mangonui. Mr. Louis Morrell, secretary of the Waimamaku Dairy Co., has been making a round of visits to his friends in North Hokianga. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Johnson and child are visiting Mrs. Sargeant. Mr. Johnson is headmaster at a school near Tc Awamutu. Mr. F. J. Stockman, who is now teaching near Opotiki and was formerly stationed at Motukiore, is visiting friends at Kohukohu. Mr. F. R. Phillips has just returned from a holiday spent in Auckland and Whangarei. Mr. F,. S. Hoddinott, the Methodist Missioner for this district, is spending the holidays with his parents at Palmerston North. Mr. Grice took Mr. Hoddinott’s place last Sunday. Evening Party Last Saturday Mrs. Baker gave an evening party at her residence near Rangiahua to allow friends an opportunity of meeting her son, Mr. Fred Baker, and his bride, who are spending the holidays with her. A large number of neighbours and relatives were present, and Mrs. Baker with her usual hospitality had prepared a very nice supper. Mr. Alf Ogle took charge of the music for the evening. The much-enjoyed party closed in the wee sma’ hours. Tennis Party Mr. and Mrs. Roland Chapman gave a tennis party on New Year’s

Day at their residence at Umawera. A picnic lunch was served and a pleasant day profitably used. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. Ted Ogle and family, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Chapman and family, Mrs. Donnelly and family, Mrs. Phil Bindon and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wattam, the Misses Harrison, and Messrs. Jim Lees, Arthur Harrison, Bob Yarnton, Frank and Ernest Chapman and Ernest Wattam.
