Prizes for Children

Sir.—l have read both letters on this subject in your paper, and consider that prize-giving should not be abolishedf Because one writer’s opinion is that prize-giving makes children greedy and “me first” etc., that does not mean that it effects all that way. We agree with Mrs. Goodbew that parents can assist in the right way with supper, to wards funds and teachers appreciate the help given by parents. Teachers are out to do their best for the children, and it is the correct thing to do to appreciate their work and methods. The recent fancy dress bull was well organised and as there were four competitions each child had a fair chance. Children look forward to prizes. Yours, etc., ANOTHER MOTHER.
