Meeting of County Derating Commifee
A meeting of the Mangonui Derating Committee was held in the Foresterb Hull on Wednesday evening. There was a fair attendance of members, Mr. G. Cosson, Chairman, presiding. Messrs E. R. Bird and G. Cosson reported ou the combined deputation of the Farmers Union, County Councils and Ratepa.veis’ organisations that met representatives of the Government to put the case for derating of faun lands from road rates. Arising from a letter from the Mango* nui County Council expressing its willingness to meet representatives of the Derating Committee at the next meeting of the County Council on December 20lh and hold a round table conference it was agreed to tall in with the Council’s suggestion and twelve representatives of the Committee were appointed to meet the Council at 8 p.m. ou Wednesday December 20th. Further public derating meetings will he held in abeyance in the meantime ufltil after the meeting with the Council. As the Farmers’ Union had financed half of the delegates’ expenses to Wellington it was agreed to raise the balance of the expenses by local subscriptions.
