Wedding of Miss E. E. Hutley

The Awanui Anglican Church was beautifully decorated with flowers on Wednesday, 25th ult., for the wedding of Miss Elizabeth Ellen Hutley to Mr. Thomas James Gardner, both of Awanui, the Rev. R. H. Trill joining the happy pair. The bride was dressed in white satin, trimmed with white flowers, and a spray on the shoulder, with the veil held in place by a head-dress of orange blossom, and wore white satin shoes. She carried a shower bouquet of white cai’nations, sweet peas and roses, with maidenhair fern. The bridesmaids, Misses Violet Hutley and Florrie Gardner, wore limegreen crepe-de-chine frocks, with cape collars, black silk crinoline straw hats, and black satin shoes. Miss Hutley’s bouquet was of pink sweet peas and carnations, and Miss Gardner’s mauve sweet peas and stocks. All three bouquets were made by Mrs. Geo. Rickard of Kaitaia. Mr. Jim Gardner, brother of the bridegroom, was bes-t man, and Mr. Alf. Thompson groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held, Mrs. Hutley receiving the guests in a black georgette frock. The following toasts were honoured, Mr. G. Tyler being toastmaster : “The King” Mr. Tyler ; “Bride and Bridegroom,” Mr. Trill—the bridegroom responding ; “Bride’s parents,” Mr. Tyler— Mr. J. Hutley; “Groom’s Parents,” Mr. J. Steed—Mr. Graham ; “Bridesmaids,” Mr. A. Thompson—Mr. J. Gardner. Afterwards the dancers took the floor, music being supplied by Miss M. Morey, Miss N. Beazley and Mr. 11. Kirtlan (violin), Mrs. W. L. Evans, Miss M. Urlich, Mr. W. Evans and Mr. C. Harrison, with Mr. C. Hutley as M.C. Between dances items were given by Miss Morey, Mr. J. Tyler, and Mr. L. Crawford. After supper had been served dancing was resumed till the early hours, everyone appreciating' Mr. and Mrs. Hutley’s generosity and hospitality to the full.
