GRANT FOR CHURCH ROAD

EXTENSION OF METALLING £IOO, £ FOR £l, OBTAINED

Passing on'the representations of settlers, Capt. H. M. Rushworth, M.P., has obtained a grant of £IOO, £1 for £l, for a half-mile extension of the metalling on Church road.

Waiting on Capt. Rushworth during his recent visit, the settlers concerned offered to find £SO if the county council found a similar amount and the Public Works Department subsidised the whole amount £1 lor £l, giving a total of £2OO.

With strong recommendations for consideration the offer was telegraphed by Capt. Rushworth to the Minister ot Public Works, the Hon.E. A. Ransom, who on Monday wired as follows : —“I am agreeable to authorise £IOO for Church Road on the conditions stated.”
