GENERAL. A discussion took place on the matter of the award made in the Champion Hunting Class, Mr. I Jameson bringing up the point that a mistake had been made in the placing of the horses in this class at the last show. Amid laughter he stated that the horse r which secured the cup had not jumped a fence. It was obviously an error due to the similarity of the horses. The cup should have been awarded to Mr. W. Maria. Mr. Kenny said in these circumstances the Executive would see that Mr. Maria was given the cup. He was certain the holder, Mr. T. Gallagher, would not desire to

hold a cup through an error. Mr. D. H. Lewis agreed with this point. Mr. A. Wright: I don’t see how the committee could do this without offering an insult to the judge. Mr. Kenny : I don t think any judge would feel insulted when it was pointed out that an obvious error was made as a result of the similarity of the horses. I propose that we ask Mr. Gallagher to return the cup. I don’t think he would want it in the circumstances.

Mr. J. C. Marsh : I think this is a matter which might very well be left to the Executive. Mr. Maria : So far as the cup is concerned I prefer to allow it to remain where it is. I will compete for it next year. (Loud applause).

The motion was withdrawn. Mr. Holder raised a point about the parade of prize stock not being held. Mr. Reed accepted responsibility. He said in view of the fact that there was no proper provision for bulls being held under control he did not care to see the parade take place. Mr. H.B. Matthews asked why the dairy cow demonstration was not held, Mr. Reed said that he wanted to see the demonstration, but owing to the lack of organisation and also on account of the programme being behind time, the demonstr. ton could not be given. Mr. Holder brought up the question of show stock being driven uncontrolled through the crowd as the people were leaving the grounds. He said this was a most dangerous procedure and he trusted the Executive would prevent this in future.
