Juniors. A Friendly Match An exciting game was witnessed at Victoria Valley last l Saturday. There was a good at- ’ tendance in spite of the wealher, t the field was wet and the ball n greasy. From the kick-off Awanui secured the leather and did a bit cf good work in the Valley 25, but for the good attacking of the home team, the score would have been downed. Wilfred t<x,k the hall at his roe but was checked by ibe Awnmii full. Hutley followed up and secured ;.he ball at I a good speed and got into the Red and Black 25, passed out to Duckerand on to Walker who parsed to Evans the last-named , finishing brilliantly. The kick missed. Change over. The Valley became desperate *nd the game sea*sawed until a

dribbling rush by the home team was topped off by Ross White. The kick failed. Half-time. 3 all.

The whistle brought the game into play and Wilfred secured a good pass cm c.-. f h one of his little gallops was aver. The kick missed. Vally 6 Awanui 3. Awanui k : :ked off and followed up, Rusty Evans scrambled through, but was soon downed by aiowta klfby Ritchie. Evans taking the baU at toe did a good bit of work in the Valley 25. Red ; r.d 31aek penalised but the kick was badly executed owing to the greasy pall. ValLy 1 nbied and Awamr gained possession with a good passing rush from Evans to Hurley and or to Bucket who gamed the touch-line, the try being converted. Awanui 8, Valley 6. The last chanc>», and the ball too greasy to be handled. The Valley tried hard but were checked by the sturdy bttie juniors, un*il Wilfred got the bob in front of him and took it wall into Black s 25. The ball went out of bounds, and from the line-out Garton secu.-ed, and weight topped it off, kick missed and time was up, ttie following scores resulting, Valley 9, Awanui 8. Ben Whitte controlled the gar.v v ell.
