Archdeacon Hawkins is expected to again visit the parish at an early date. Mr. James Stitt arrived on Thursday, accompanied by Mrs Stitt, to take over the Kaitaia Hotel. Mr. Stitt will be remembered as the popular host of the Mangonui Hotel. Mr. Jounneaux, of Whangarei, paid a flying visit to Kaitaia about ten days ago.

Visiting Auckland: Mr and Mrs Dacre, Mr. Herb Tracy, Mr. Gus Yates.

Mr. Mawhinney, tester at the Kaitaia Dairy Factory, is away South on holiday bent.

Mr. W. F. Crooke, Dominion Supervisor ,for the Independent Order of Oddfellows, is on a visit to Kaitaia. It is the intention of the Order to form a Lodge here, and a preliminary meeting will be held to-night to further this object. Mr. R. B. Russel, who succeeded Mr. F. Goodhus recently, was re-elected Chairman of the Hokianga County Council and Hospital Board.

MrH. H. Mountain was re-elected Chairman of the Bay of Islands County Council and Mr. J. W. Jones was appointed Chairman of the Hospital Board.

Amongst recent deaths reported is that of Mr. Edward John Von Dadelszen, for many years Registrar-General and Statistical Officer for New Zealand. Mr. Von Dadelszen, manager of the Bank of Australasia at Mangonui, is a son of the deceased gentleman. Mr. A Logan has for many years acted as Honorary Auditor of the Mangonui— Whangaroa Acclimatisation Society. At the last Annual Meeting pressure of business compelled him to refuse nomination for the office, and in recognition of his valuable services he was made a Life Member of the society. Passengers from Auckland to Awanui on May 27th Mesdames Berry, Riddell and child ; Messrs Hagger, Sears, Death, Antonovich, Roche, Andrews, Smithy, Palmer, Batham ; Master Powell; Constable Atkins. Outward passengers on May 30th: —Misses Evans (2), Thomas, Maria; Mesdames Steed, Waters, Jones and boy; Messrs Steed, McKinley, Von Dadelszen, Adams, Gainsborough, Slater ; Quarterman, Yates, Begg, Flynn, Brown, G. Evans; Masters Richards, Gallagher, Lewis.

At the annual meeting of the Bay of Islands Hospital Board the appointment of Dr. Frazerhurst as Medical Superintendent of the Hospital was made in place of Dr. Christie, resigned. Dr. Frazerhurst has been practising at Kaikohe since he resigned from the Whangarei Hospital, and has a private hospital there. He has now moved into Kawakawa.
