PEARSON MEMORIAL FUND.

We find it necessary to remove s®me misconceptions in connection with this Fund. In the first place it is not a Fund, as is being represented by some people, for blind soldiers. The idea, we believe, originated with blind New Zealand soldiers, who wished in this way to perpetuate the memory of a great benefactor of those who had been robbed of, or who have never possessed, the inestimable blessing of sight. The whole of the funds raised are to be used for the blind of New Zealand, of whom there are approximately 550 to 600. Those requiring, or capable of receiving tuition, will be taught by teachers paid from the Fund. Blind soldiers will reap benefits where necessary, from the Fund, but it must be borne in mind that it is for the benefit of the whole of our blind. Mr. Clutha Mackenzie informs us that splendid progress is being

made towards the raising of the large sum which has been set as * the goal of the endeavour. Our effort in connection with the “Age” list, is in no way antagonistic to other efforts. We are merely catering for the section of the community which wishes to give direct, without being bothered by other methods, which do not appeal of raising funds.
