PROPOSED TOWN BOARD.
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND COUNTY COUNCIL. At the Council Meeting a deleg.vim or deputation from the Chamber of C'mmerce waited on the County Council to discuss die question 'of forming a Town Board District for Kaitaia. The delegation consisted of Messrs Allen Bell, (President) F.B.Rowe, F. and S. Holder, Banks, C. V. Bigg-W ither, C. E. Scott, C. Peterson, and was introduced by Cr.E. C. Matthews. Mr Bell, as spokesman, said that those waiting on the Council were not a deputation, as they were there on the invitation of the Council. They were anxious to see the preliminary staps taken, * in order to have things in train before March 31st. They wanted to know if anything was required now other than had been when previously action had been deferred at the wish of the Council. The Chairman: There was a plan. Where is it. Plan produced. Mr Bell: Alterations have been made from the original plan, as Mr H.S. and Cr E.C. Matthews made objections to the inclusion of certain properties. The approximate area of the land which we wish to include in the Town Board Area is 1240 acres. Mr E.C.Matthews: This is not the plan which was shown to me. Mr Bell: The plan now before the Council is the only official plan in connection with the movement. The Chairman asked Mr Bell whether his executive was unanimous in connection with this matter. Mr Bell: The old executive was, and so I believe is the present one. After a good deal of discussion Cr Y rathall moved that the proposal for a To wn Board,as submitted by the delegation from the Chamber of Commerce, be approved by the Council. Seed Mr Long and Carried; Messrs Houston and C. E. Matthews dissenting.
